Meet Dr. Ploussard

Dr. Ploussard was born and raised in Calabasas, California and obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology at UC Berkeley. During her undergraduate studies she was a member of the Golden Overtones A cappella group and the Order of Omega honor society. She then attended the UCLA school of dentistry where she helped create the Dentatonix A cappella group, held many leadership positions, and was heavily involved in community service. This entailed two week-long trips to Honduras and one to Mexico to treat underserved communities, including care for patients with cleft lip and palate. In addition to her community service abroad, she was a coordinator for the MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity) clinic, which treated an underserved community in Southern California. She helped create the initial program between the UCLA school of dentistry and the MEND clinic and organized clinical sessions, including management of faculty coverage and dental student participation. While in dental school, she was a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society and received several awards and honors for her academic achievements and volunteer efforts.

Following dental school, she attended a dental general practice residency at the University of Washington where she treated patients with developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions. She then completed an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCLA. Subsequently, she completed her medical degree, general surgery internship, and oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Ploussard then completed a year of fellowship at the Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Farrell. During this year of advanced training, she participated in hundreds of complex orthognathic and reconstructive surgeries. This included managing complicated oral and facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), dentoalveolar surgery and implant reconstruction. During her studies, Dr. Ploussard contributed to published articles, book chapters, and gave presentations at national meetings on the topics of maxillomandibular advancement for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, craniomaxillofacial trauma, stock versus patient-specific implants for cleft orthognathic surgery, and insurance coverage for temporomandibular joint disorders.

In her free time Dr. Ploussard enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs exploring the great Pacific Northwest. They enjoy hiking, skiing/snowboarding, camping, cooking, taking advantage of the Portland food scene, and quality time with friends and family. They also play on co-ed recreational volleyball and softball teams.
